Unser letzter Morgen in Yellowknife begann, und wir nahmen Abschied vom Fred Henne Campground. Fuer uns ging es zum Fruehstueck noch einmal zu Tim Hortons, bevor wir dann wieder in die Innenstadt fuhren.
Our last morning in Yellowknife, and we said goodbye to the Fred Henne Campground. For breakfast we chose Tim Horton again, and then drove into downtown.

Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre
Und nun besuchten wir auch das Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, welches ein wirklich sehr schoenes Museum mit tollen Ausstellungsstuecken enthaelt.
We visited the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, a very nice museum which houses a lot of very interesting exhibits.

Ausstellung zum Bergbau/ mining exhibition
Es gibt viele Dioramas mit den typischen Tieren der NWT und was man aus ihren Knochen, Innereien und Fell herstellt. Und es gibt eine Ausstellung zum Leben der lokalen Natives, den Wıìlıìdeh Yellowknives Dene.
one can see a lot of dioramas with the wildlife of the NWT, also what is made of their bones. intestines and fur. Also there is a special exhibition about the life of the local Natives, the Wıìlıìdeh Yellowknives Dene.

Eine weitere Ausstellung beschaeftigt sich mit der RCMP und auch speziellen Constables

Ebenso sehen wir ein Modell der St. Roch. Das Originalschiff haben wir vor 2 Jahren in Vancouver im Maritime Museum angeschaut.

Bei Fort McPherson sind wir mit der Faehre namens Louis Cardinal gefahren, welche nach dem Mann hier benannt wurde.
At Fort McPherson we crossed the river with the ferry named Louis Cardinal, named after this man:
eine andere Ausstellung hat noch einige weitere typische Exponate wie Kleidungsstuecke oder auch ein Elchhaut-Boot.

Und nun war der Hauptgrund des Besuches in Yellowknife dran: wir hatten einen Termin fuer eine Hangar-Tour bei Buffalo Airways. Wir alle sind grosser Fan der Dokumentationsserie "Ice Pilots".
Als wir die Reise geplant haben, was das der Wunsch von Dominik, was fuer uns alle dann also 2000km extra Strecke bedeutet hat. Was tut man nicht alles fuer ein glueckliches Kind :-).
Now we did why we came here: we had an appointment with Buffalo Airways to tour the hangar. We all are great fans of the documentary "Ice Pilots", and wehen we planned the route for this trip it was a huge wish of Dominik's to come here and see it in reality. That meant a detour of about 2.000 km/ 1.250 miles but who cares when it makes the kid happy, right?

Die Fuehrung war nett, aber leider dann doch recht kurz mit nur knapp 15 Minuten.

Und dann noch der Gluecksmoment fuers Kind, wir trafen auf Joe und so kam Dominik noch zu einem gemeinsamen Foto samt eines kurzen Gespraechs :-).
And now Dominik's happy moment: we met Joe! So Dominik got the chance for a quick talk as well as a photo :-).
Im Souvenirshop liessen wir dann noch so einiges an Geld, und Dominik machte sich die Katze zum Freund.
We left quite some money at the gift shop, and Dominik befriended their cat.
Wir fuhren dann noch ein paar Lebensmittel einkaufen und verliessen am spaeten Nachmittag Yellowknife.
We had to buy some groceries, and the left Yellowknife in late afternoon.

Wir fuhren an dem Abend noch ein Weilchen, da wir am Ende der Woche zu Hause sein wollten. Somit hatten wir 3.500km/ 2.200 miles in 4.5 Tagen vor uns als Distanz.
We drove until late that day since we wanted to be home by the end of the week, this meant a distance of 3.500 km/ 2.200 miles in a time frame of 4.5 days.
