4960 Miles

We started this blog in 2011 while moving from Berlin, Germany to Greater Vancouver, Canada. The blog name was the distance between both cities, which now isn't the same anymore. In 2016 we became Canadian citizens in addition to our German citizenship. Around the same time Andreas was offered a move to the States (transfer within the same company he already was with in Canada) and so we moved to Greater Denver, Colorado, where we now live pretty rural in the Foothills of the Rockies. We love to travel as one can see in our blog posts.

Amarillo, TX - Cadillac Ranch

At the end of March it was time for spring break, and we used that time for a road trip through Texas. We did that already two years ago at the same time, and just when we visited the Space center in Houston we got a tornado warning, so Dominik couldn't visit the things he wanted. That's why we had to do this trip again :-).

At the last day of school the entire 8th grade had a field trip to the Finance Park in Denver. During math they've learned about personal finance, like budgeting your income etc. That field trip was the opportunity to put all the things they've learned into a bigger project, and the kids really enjoyed it. We asked the teacher if we could pick up Dominik right at that place instead of at school since it would save us quite some time, and it wasn't a problem. We still had a long way ahead of us that day: a large chunk of Colorado, a little of New Mexico, and right into Texas.

that's why we don't live in the city anymore: the traffic drives us nuts

Dominik entschied sich etwas "zu lesen", haha :-)

Dominik decided "to read", lol :-)

In Dumas, TX we found a city campground where one can camp one night for free, and it even includes electricity and they have dump station (donations are welcome). That was kind of nice since that night was quite chilly outside.

We continued the drive to Amarillo because we wanted to pay another visit to the Cadillac Ranch. Two years ago the weather wasn't that nice and we hoped that the sky might clear up this time.

Everyone can bring a can of spray paint, and so the Cadillacs change their look daily.

Und weiter ging die Fahrt .../ And the drive continued ...
