4960 Miles

We started this blog in 2011 while moving from Berlin, Germany to Greater Vancouver, Canada. The blog name was the distance between both cities, which now isn't the same anymore. In 2016 we became Canadian citizens in addition to our German citizenship. Around the same time Andreas was offered a move to the States (transfer within the same company he already was with in Canada) and so we moved to Greater Denver, Colorado, where we now live pretty rural in the Foothills of the Rockies. We love to travel as one can see in our blog posts.

Roadtrip - 23: Heyburn SP, ID & Spokane, WA

 06/22/2020 & 06/23/2020 (Tag 33&34/ day 33&34)

We had fantastic weather in the morning, and that was the view from our camper.

After having breakfast, we left the campground and drove to the lake.

Ueber diese wunderschoene Bruecke (Chatcolet Bridge) fuehrt uebrigens der Trail of the Coeur Dd'Alenes Fahrradweg, der insgesamt eine Laenge von 73 Meilen hat.

The well known Trail of the Coeur d"Alenes bike trail crosses this beautiful bridge (Chatcolet Bridge), the bike trail has a total length of 73 miles.

After leaving the SP, we are crossing back into Washington State.

Our drive also leads us a bit though the Palouse area with its rolling fields.

The afternoon we spent in Spokane but only with running a lot of errands. We had to visit Camping World for a return, buying groceries, and the men had to get their bi-weekly hair cut. All that with the driving in between takes a lot of time, and we hate it.

But we also had to purchase a new mattress. My beloved old spring mattress wasn't up to the task anymore, the springs got uncomfortable. I got problems with my left shoulder again, until I almost couldn't use the arm anymore. The shoulder I hurt during March when Andrea was on a 4-day business trip while we had a 4-day snow storm. I hurt that shoulder while shoveling snow, and took almost two month for the pain to go away. When the pain returned during the trip, I started to panic that I would need surgery. Andreas conbinced me to try a new mattress first, and voila, it did the trick. After a few days my shoulder was back to normal again, and i was so happy! It was quite a hassle to remove the old mattress, luckily we were allowed to drop them into the garbage container right at the dealer's storage facility. Pirate seemed to enjoy the lovely, shady lawn in front of the shop, he pooped 4 times in a row. Dominik desperatley screamed for help to pick that up. We bagged the poop and threw it into the dumpster but with 91F it gave a nasty odor right away :-).

We spent the night at the local KOA which was actually nice. We had a lot of room, and we took the opportunity to do laundry. If we would be in the area again, we actually would sleep here again.

Also the next morning was already hot, we visited downtown Spokane that day.

We found a parking spot really close to the Riverfront Park.

In the late afternoon we drove to our next campground, back to Idaho which was only about 1/2 hour drive.

We had picked the fairgrounds in Coeur d'Alene since it was reasonable priced. As we arrived we were honestly shocked. The map on their website made us believe there would be trees - which weren't. But since it was "cheap", quiet, and away from any major road we decided to stay for two nights.

Sympathischer Ort.
