Wir mussten recht frueh aufstehen an diesem Morgen und um 7 Uhr hatten wir gane 6 Grad Aussentemperatur, was sich unausgeschlafen natuerlich noch frischer anfuehlt. Das war unser letzter Morgen in Idaho und wir fuhren nach Wyoming.
We had to get up quite early this morning, and at 7 am we only had 45F which felt much colder when still feeling sleepy. We left Idaho for good and drove into Wyoming.
Wir kamen vor 8 am Grand Teton National Park an, mussten aber noch bis zum Campingplatz fahren. Reservierungen waren im Voraus nicht moeglich, somit heisst es fuer Camper sich frueh am Kassenhaeuschen anstellen und auf einen freien Platz zu hoffen.
We arrived at Grand Teton National Park before 8 am but still had to drive to the campground which we thought would most like have a free site. There were no reservations possible and so there is a long line up each morning in front of the cashier booths' to get a spot.
Wir hatten Glueck und um 8.30 Uhr hatten wir unsere Campsite bezahlt, besichtigt und auch wieder verlassen :-). Wir hatten uns den Colter Bay Campground ausgesucht. Es ging dann erst einmal von dort rueber zur Marina, da das Wasser relativ ruhig war.
We got lucky and scored a campsite at the Colter Bay Campground at 8.30 am. We quickly took a look to the site and then headed over to the Marina since the water was relatively calm.

Anschliessend folgten wir einfach der Teton Park Road und hielten an den verschiedenen Aussichtspunkten, es war unser erstes Mal hier im Sommer.
We simply followed the Teton Park Road and stopped at several lookouts, it was our first time in the park during summer time.

Am Jenny Lake Overlook fanden wir noch einen Parkplatz und machten dort Mittagspause.
We found a parking spot at Jenny Lake and had our lunch break.
Am Jenny Lake selbst war die Hoelle los ... nur falls jemand dachte, wir waeren alleine im Park. Hier muss man spaetestens gegen 8.00 parken, sonst ist es vorbei bis zum spaeten Nachmittag.
Jenny Lake itself was crowded like hell ... just in case anyone was thinking we would have been alone in the park. Either one has a parking spot by 8 am or they won't be another chance until late afternoon.
Fuer uns ging es dann weiter zum Craig Thomas Besucherzentrum, wo wir verabredet waren.
We drove to the Craig Thomas Visitor Center where we had a "blind date".
Wir trafen uns dort mit einem Ranger, der hier schon lange arbeitet. Ich "kannte" Bryan bis dahin nur aus einer meiner Truckcamper facebook Gruppen. Wir hatten eine sehr nette Unterhaltung und eine seiner Kolleginnen machte noch ein Foto.
We met with a ranger who is already working for a long time in this NP. So far I "knew" Bryan only through one of my truck camper facebook groups. We had quite the nice chat, and a colleague of his snapped a quick photo.
Danach versuchten wir unser Glueck an der Mormon Row, aber das Licht war doof fuer ein Foto.
Next we tried our luck at the Mormon Row but the light was pretty bad for a photo.
Am spaeten Nachmittag konnten wir nun auch einen Parkplatz fuer die Wanderung zum Taggart Lake bekommen.
In the late afternoon we were able to find a parking spot at the busy Taggart Lake trailhead.
Anschliessend ging es dann zurueck zum Campingplatz, wir waren doch recht geschafft und auch hungrig. Ausserdem wollte Pirate auch etwas bewegt werden.
And that's when we returned to our campsite, we were a bit tired but mainly hungry and Pirate wanted to get some outdoor time, too.
Unser Stellplatz war schoen und recht gross ... leider aber aussen nicht nutzbar aufgrund unendlich vieler Muecken. Selbst Pirate wollte auf einmal nicht mehr wirklich draussen rumlaufen.
Our campsite was nice and quite big ... but we couldn't use due to a gazillion of mosquitos. Even Pirate didn't want to go for long walks anymore.
So verbrachten wir den Rest des Abends im Camper, was okay war.
We spent the rest of the evening in the camper which was okay with us.
Wow, ist das schön da, auch wenn es so scheint, als wenn dort jeder hin will... tolle Bilder, besonders von den schneebedeckten Bergspitzen, die sich im Wasser spiegeln. Einfach toll!!!
ReplyDeleteohjaaaa, es ist traumhaft dort und dehshalb sind dort ja auch viele Besucher. Und es war nicht unser letztes Mal dort, beim naechsten mal hoffentlich noch laenger als 3 Tage.
