Kroatien: Krka NP & Šibenik (Tag 5)/ Croatia: Krka NP & Šibenik (day 5)

Am Sonntag besuchten wir den Nationalpark Krka der 1985 gegründet wurde, der Eintritt ist kostenpflichtig und gestaffelt nach Saison (im Hochsommer bis 40 Euro/ Erwachsener). Der Nationalpark erstreckt sich entlang des Flusses Krka und ist vor allem durch seine Wasserfaelle bekannt. Ein weiteres Highlight des Parks ist die Klosterinsel Visovac und es gibt auch Hoehlen, die man erkunden kann. Beliebt sind auch Bootstouren durch den Park. Vielen Deutschen ist das Gebiet aber auch durch Dreharbeiten bekannt, in den 1960er Jahren wurden ier naemlich Teile der Winnetou-Verfilmungen gedreht.

On Sunday, we visited the Krka National Park founded in 1985. Entry is subject to a fee and varies depending on the season (in midsummer up to 40 euros/adult). The national park stretches along the Krka River and is best known for its waterfalls. Another highlight of the park is the monastery island of Visovac and there are also caves that you can explore. Boat tours through the park are also popular. Many Germans are also familiar with the area through filming; in the 1960s, parts of the Winnetou film adaptations were filmed here.

Wir starteten unseren Besuch am "Skradinski Buk" Wasserfall. Hier fuehrt ein ca 2 km Rundweg um den Wasserfall der ua zu einem frueheren Wasserkraftwerk und an Wassermuehlen vorbeifuehrt. Der Weg ist wirklich schoen, teilweise auf solchen Holzwegen und unter Baeumen entlang.

We started our visit at the "Skradinski Buk" waterfall. It is an approximately 2 km circular path around the waterfall, which leads, among other things, to a former hydroelectric power station and past water mills. The path is really beautiful, partly along wooden paths and under trees.

In einer der Wassermuehlen befindet sich ein kleines Museum zu den Wasserfaellen und dem Wasserkraftwerk.

Zurueck am Beginn des Rundganges. Von hier aus kann man auch Bootstouren in den Park machen, das hat fuer uns aber an diesem Tag nicht gepasst. Es gibt die Moeglichkeiten Ausflugsboote zur Insel Visovac nehmen, eine zweistündige Hin- und Rückfahrt, nach Roški slap, eine vierstündige Hin- und Rückfahrt, und nach Torak, eine einstündige Hin- und Rückfahrt.

Back at the beginning of the walk. From here you can also take boat tours into the park, but that didn't work for us that day. There are the options of taking excursion boats to the island of Visovac, a two-hour return trip, to Roški slap, a four-hour return trip, and to Torak, a one-hour return trip.

Wir entschieden uns hingegen mit dem Auto zum Roški slap Wasserfall zu fahren, dabei bekommt man auch einen Blick auf die Insel Visovac mit dem Kloster.

However, we decided to drive to the Roški slap waterfall, where you also get a view of the island of Visovac with the monastery.

Die Bootsanlegestelle am Roški slap, hier gibts ein kleines Gasthaus, wo wir uns gestaerkt haben und vor allem kalte Getraenke geniessen konnten.

Wir liefen auch noch einen Wanderweg entlang mit einer Strecke von knapp 1.4 km.

We also walked along a hiking trail with a distance of almost 1.4 km.

Am Nachmittag machten wir uns dann auf den Rueckweg und hielten noch in der schoenen Stadt Šibenik an der Adriakueste. Wir schlenderten etwas durch die Gassen und es war angenehm leer da es Sonntag war und somit vieles geschlossen war. Wir wollten aber sowieso vorrangig an die Uferpromenade um etwas zu essen.

In the afternoon, we left Krka National Park and stopped in the beautiful town of Šibenik on the Adriatic coast. We strolled through the streets and it was pleasantly empty since it was a Sunday and so many things were closed. But anyway, we wanted to go to the waterfront promenade to get something to eat.

Am Platz der Republik findet man das Alte Rathaus (erbaut 1533–1542) aber auch die Kathedrale des Heiligen Jakob, deren Dach aus einem Tonnengewölbe aus freitragenden Steinplatten besteht (erbaut von 1431 bis 1535).

On Republic Square, you will find the Old Town Hall (built 1533–1542) and the Cathedral of Saint James, whose roof consists of a barrel vault made of cantilevered stone slabs (built from 1431 to 1535).

Neben der Kathedrale sieht man auch die Statue von Juraj Dalmatinac, er war ein dalmatinischer Bildhauer und Architekt. Sein Hauptwerk ist die Kathedrale des Heiligen Jakob in Šibenik, wo er ab 1441 für 6 Jahre als Dombaumeister taetig war.

Next to the cathedral, you can also see the statue of Juraj Dalmatinac, he was a Dalmatian sculptor and architect. His main work is the Cathedral of Saint James in Šibenik, where he worked as a cathedral builder for 6 years from 1441.

Wir fanden ein nettes kleines Restaurant (Bistro Anima Mare) direkt am Ufer und sassen dann hier auch eine Weile und vor allem Dominik gefiel die Ruhe hier. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker. 

We found a nice little restaurant on the promenade (Bistro Anima Mare)  and sat there for a while Dominik especially liked the peace and quiet there. The food was also very tasty.

In Šibenik wurde 2021 eine Nachbildung der ersten Filmkamera aufgestellt, mit der 1898 von Alexandre Promio die ältesten Filmaufnahmen aus Südosteuropa aufgenommen wurden.

In 2021, a replica of the first film camera was set up in Šibenik, with which the oldest film footage from Southeast Europe was recorded by Alexandre Promio in 1898.

Inzwischen war es dann auch schon frueher Abend und wir machten uns auf den Rueckweg nach Split.

By now it was already early evening and we made our way back to Split.

An einer Stelle auf dem Rueckweg hatten wir einen fantastischen Ausblick: vorne sieht man Trogir, und oben links im Bild, in der Ferne, Split.

Waehrend Dominik wieder in der Ferienwohnung entspannen wollte vom Tag, fuehrten Andreas und ich unser Abendritual mit einem Getraenk in einer der Bars an der Promenade in Split fort.

While Dominik wanted to relax in the apartment, Andreas and I continued our evening ritual with a drink in one of the bars on the promenade in Split.
