7&8: Dominguez Escalante NCA & Uncompahgre NF, CO

Den Donnerstag verbrachten wir mehr oder weniger am Camper, unterbrochen  nur von einer Runde um den See mit dem Auto. Aber irgendwie hab ich gar keine Fotos gemacht. Die einzigen beiden Fotos zeigen Enten und Wolken *lach*.

Thursday we spent at the trailer, the only other thing was driving around the lake with the car. But I didn't take any pictures except of two: ducks and clouds :-).

Am Freitag entschieden wir uns dann nochmal fuer einen Ausflug. Dabei war wieder eine Schotterpiste auf dem Plan und ein Scenic Byway. 

On Friday we opted for another day trip, a gravel road and a Scenic Byway.

Wir mussten wieder Richtung Grand Junction, wie auch schon am Mittwoch.

We headed towards Grand Junction, as we did Wednesday.

Dann bogen wir ab auf den Unaweep/Tabeguache Snic Byway, eine wunderschoene Strecke. Hier waren wir bereits vor 2 Jahren auch ein Stueck entlang gefahren, und spaeter am Tag wuerden wir aus der entgegenkommenden Richtung ein grosses Stueck davon fahren. Das aber im naechsten Bericht.

We turned onto the Unaweep/Tabeguache Scenic Byway, a wonderful stretch of road. We've also been here two years ago, and later this day we would follow the Scenic Byway from the other direction back to Grand Junction. But that I'll show in my next posting.

Wir bogen dann auf die Divide Road ab, eine Schotterstrasse die ein kleines Stueck in die Dominguez Escalanta National Conservation Area (NCA) fuehrt, und dann weiter durch den Uncompahgre National Forest (NF).

We left the Scenic Byway and turned onto Divide Road, a gravel road which leads a little into the Dominguez Escalanta National Conservation Area (NCA), and also through the Uncompahgre National Forest (NF).

hier stoppten wir fuer ein Mittagspaeuschen mit den mitgebrachten Snacks :-)

Und dann war die Strecke auch schon um, wir haben knapp 3 Stunden vom Beginn der Strasse bis hier gebraucht, da wir oft anhielten. Es war sooo idyllisch, keine Geraeusche ausser rauschende Baeume, zwitschernde Voegel und ein paar Kuehen. Himmlisch! Von hier ging es dann entlang des Scenic Byway wieder zurueck.

And that's where the trip of the Mesa ended. From starting on the gravel road to here we needed about 3 hours since we stopped a lot. It was absolutely idyllic, no noises besides the rustling of the trees, the singing of birds, and the moo of the cows. From here we drove back along the Scenic Byway.
