4960 Miles

We started this blog in 2011 while moving from Berlin, Germany to Greater Vancouver, Canada. The blog name was the distance between both cities, which now isn't the same anymore. In 2016 we became Canadian citizens in addition to our German citizenship. Around the same time Andreas was offered a move to the States (transfer within the same company he already was with in Canada) and so we moved to Greater Denver, Colorado, where we now live pretty rural in the Foothills of the Rockies. We love to travel as one can see in our blog posts.

spring break '21 (14) - Padre Island National Seashore, TX

On 04/08, we woke up and the air was extremely humid, when we opened the blinds in the camper we saw why.

gegen Mittag machte uns etwas Sonne falsche Hoffnung ...

around noon, the sun gave us false hope ...

In the afternoon, we drove to the Padre Island National Seashore although it was still foggy. Unfortunately, the weather forecast of the previous days never showed the possibility for that fog otherwise we would have visited the park earlier that week. But we had to visit at least once since being in the area.

at least once we had to see the beach

We drove back to our camper since one couldn't see a lot, and it was quite stormy.

In the evening, Andreas and I wanted to get some dinner while Dominik didn't want to join us. When we arrived at the highway, the clouds lifted, and so we made a spontaneous trip back to the Seashore. And we got lucky!

We just walked along the beach and enjoyed the air and the sun.

Along the road, one can find this blind to watch the birds.

We also followed the Nature Trail a bit.

We drove to Snoopy's Pier which was right beside the restaurant where we dined the other night.

The evening including this fantastic sunset made up for the not-so-nice morning and afternoon. Unfortunately, it was also our last night at the coast, on Friday we started the drive back home.
