We started this blog in 2011 while moving from Berlin, Germany to Greater Vancouver, Canada. The blog name was the distance between both cities, which now isn't the same anymore. In 2016 we became Canadian citizens in addition to our German citizenship. Around the same time Andreas was offered a move to the States (transfer within the same company he already was with in Canada) and so we moved to Greater Denver, Colorado, where we now live pretty rural in the Foothills of the Rockies. We love to travel as one can see in our blog posts.

On Friday morning we slept a little longer and had only a quick breakfast with cornflakes. We had a "date" for lunch but before another important appointment. So we started our one hour drive to Montrose.

Dominik had an appointment at the Driver License office which one could only get online. They had to answer the usual Covid questions and masks were required to enter the premises - one woman had to learn the hard way when she started a discussion about it :-). I was waiting in the car, and after 45 minutes Dominik returned with a learner's permit printed on paper, the plastic card would arrive at home within a few days.

Next we drove to one of the parks in Montrose where we met for lunch with Roberta and David. Everyone brought their lunch and we had a really nice time. While being on the table we all wore masks, we just took them off for the photo. Roberta and I "know" each other for a few years now, we came in touch through a facebook group and eventually we were able to meet in person.

In the early afternoon, we arrived at a place we had on our list for a long time: the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area. One drives a dirt road through a beautiful canyon area.

After 17 miles we turned around since we also had to drive back, we were driving quite slow since I had to take pictures.

We stopped at the Potholes Campground to have a little snack break. It was quite hot (upper 90's F) and Pirate didn't wanna leave the shade.

It is not recommend to go into the water down there, quite some people died by underestimating the dangers of the water hydraulics.
