Am Morgen fuhren wir die 1.5 h bis nach Deadwood. Andreas hatte wieder eine Telefonkonferenz und so parkten wir an der Besucherinfo. Dominik und ich spazierten dann einmal alleine durch die Satdt fuer einen ersten Eindruck, und nach dem Telefonat ging es dann auch fuer Andreas und Pirate noch einmal entlang der Hauptstrasse.
Ueberall lasen wir, dass Deadwood ein "must see" ist, und so waren die Erwartungen hoch ... und fielen tief. Es war der Ort, den wir waehrend des Urlaubs am wenigsten mochten. Die Hauptstrasse bestand aus prolligen Biker-Souvenirlaeden und Casinos, beides ueberhaupt nicht unser Fall. Genauso haben die Biker vor Ort auch alle Klischees erfuellt: alt, dick, bierbaeuchig mit Frauen, die sich anzogen, als ob sie nur ein Drittel ihres Alters haetten und 3 Kleidergroessen weniger als tatsaechlich. Dazu beschallten die Motorraeder saemtliche Strassen mit ihren aufgedrehten Radios. Wie gesagt, ueberhaupt nicht unser Fall. Das ganze schildert hier unsere Meinund, dass andere es hier toll finden ist unbestritten :-).
Deadwood ist eine der typischen Goldgraebersiedlungen aus dem Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, die Hauptstrasse hat noch viele schoene Haeuserfronten davon zum anschauen (positiver Eindruck!)
In the morning we drove the 1.5 hours to Deadwood. Andreas again had a conference call to attend, and so we parked on the visitor information parking lot. Dominik and I first strolled alone along the streets, later Andreas and Pirate joined us when walking along the main street again.
Every travel page etc stressed thi city as a "must see", and so we had high expectations ... which fell extremely short. it was the city we liked the least during our trip, Main street consists predominantly of trashy biker-gift shops and casinos. A lot of bikers were to be found here, too, and they all looked like the typical stereotype: overweight with beer belly, and their spouses wore clothes like they were only a third of their age and three sizes smaller. The bikes filled the streets with their noisy radio sounds. It simply wasn't our style. That is just our opinion, other people may like it very much.
Deadwood is one of the typical gold camp cities which were established in the late 19th century. The main street still offers a lot of nice buildings to see (positive note!).

Zur Mittagszeit suchten wir uns das Stockade aus, Hunde waren auf der Terrasse erlaubt. Die Burger und Sandwiches waren riesig und richtig gut.
For lunch we choose the Stockade, dogs were allowed on the patio. Burgers and sandwiches were delicious!
Nach dem Essen ueberzeugte mich Andreas, mir doch die Show anzuschauen, die die Ermordung eines der bekanntesten Bewohner von Deadwood nachstellt: Wild Bill. Er und Dominik warteten mit Pirate vor dem Saloon.
After lunch, Andreas convinced me to watch the show where they imitated the killing of one of the most famous residents of Deadwood: Wild Bill. Dominik and Andreas waited with Pirate in front of the saloon.
Wir hatten danach irgendiwe genug von dem oertchen und ich hatte auch keine Lust mehr, mir das grab von Calamity Jane (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calamity_Jane) auf einem nahegelegenen Friedhof anzuschauen. Wir liefen dann zurueck zum Auto.
We were kind of tired of Deadwood, and I didn't even wanted to visit the grave of Calamity Jane anymore (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calamity_Jane). We walked back to our car.
Und nun ging es erstmal wieder raus in die Natur ... :-).
We drove back into the nature ... :-).
