Kroatien: Omiš (Tag 7)/ Croatia: Omiš (day 7)

Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir in die kleine Stadt Omiš, etwa 25 km östlich von Split. In Omiš befindet sich die Mündung des Flusses Cetina in die Adria und diese Mündung trennt die Altstadt von der Neustadt, beide Teile sind jedoch durch eine Brücke verbunden. Zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten zählen die Überreste der Festungen Mirabella (13. Jahrhundert) und Starigrad (15. Jahrhundert).

The next day we drove to the small town of Omiš, about 25 km east of Split. In Omiš is the mouth of the Cetina river into the Adriatic Sea and this mouth separates the old town from the new town, but both parts are connected by a bridge. Sights include the remains of the fortresses Mirabella (13th century) and Starigrad (15th century).

Gleich am Rand von Split findet man den Ort Podstrana, wo wir einen Halt am Wasser machten.

Right on the edge of Split, you will find the town of Podstrana, where we stopped by the water.

Die Route fuehrt immer am Wasser entlang und schon alleine dafuer hat sich der Ausflug gelohnt.

The route always leads along the water and that alone made the trip worth it.

Omiš

Wir schlenderten durch die Gassen, aber hier bekam man stark mit, dass noch Vorsaison war und vieles war noch geschlossen. Dennoch war es sehr schoen.

We strolled through the streets, but here you could clearly see that it was still early season and many things were still closed. Nevertheless, it was very nice.

Als naechstes stiegen wir hinauf zur Mirabella (Peovica), eine romanische Festung, die im 13. Jahrhundert oberhalb der Stadt Omiš erbaut wurde. Mirabella wurde bevorzugt von den Piraten von Omiš als Zufluchtsort in der Cetina-Schlucht genutzt.

Next we climbed up to Mirabella (Peovica), a Romanesque fortress built in the 13th century above the town of Omiš. Mirabella was favored by the Omiš pirates as a refuge in the Cetina Gorge.

Es ging dann noch auf den Turm hinauf, aber das hab ich nicht mitgemacht, mit solchen Leitern kann man mich jagen. Dominik hat aber brav ein paar Fotos von der Aussicht gemacht fuer mich.

Then I went up the tower, but I didn't do that, people can chase me with ladders like that. But Dominik dutifully took a few photos of the view for me.

Wir liefen dann wieder zum Cetina runter, da wir dort eine Bootsfahrt in die Schlucht machen wollten. 

We then walked back down to Cetina because we wanted to take a boat trip into the gorge.

Wir hatten noch bei einem Baecker angehalten und uns an Boerek mit Kaesefuellung und Kuchen erfreut. Anschliessend fanden wir einen sehr netten aelteren Herrn fuer die Bootsfahrt, der uns auch viel zur Geschichte und zur Natur erzaehlen konnte. Die Bootsfahrt war herrlich.

We stopped at a bakery and enjoyed Boerek with cheese filling, and cake. Afterwards we found a very nice old gentleman for the boat trip, who was also able to tell us a lot about the history and nature. The boat ride was wonderful.

Die Schlucht des Flusses Cetina ist sehr beliebt bei Touristen, nicht nur wegen der Bootsfahrten sondern auch den verschiedenen Aktivitäten wie Rafting, Canyoning, Zip-Lines, Klettern, Kajakfahren etc.

The Cetina River Gorge is very popular among tourists, not only because of the boat trips but also the various activities such as rafting, canyoning, zip lines, climbing, kayaking, etc.

Es war unheimlich warm und so gab es nach der Bootstour erstmal eine Abkuehlung in einem Cafe.

It was incredibly warm and so after the boat tour we cooled off in a cafe.

Am spaeten Nachmittag waren wir zurueck in Split. Wir packten dann erstmal den Grossteil unserer Sachen zusammen, da dies unser letzter Abend in Split war. Anschliessend ging es dann ein letztes Mal an die Promenade.

In the late afternoon, we were back in Split. We then packed up most of our things as this was our last evening in Split. Then we went to the promenade one last time.
