12/2025: Warschau/ Warsaw, PL (6)

 Unser Abschluss unseres Besuchs in Warschau hätte eigentlich das Highlight darstellen sollen, doch das Wetter machte uns einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Es war erst möglich, für den Montagabend Tickets für den Varso Tower zu bekommen. Leider war es schon seit Montag grau und neblig, und es wurde auch am Abend nicht besser.

Der Varso Tower wurde 2022 fertiggestellt und ist mit 310 Metern Höhe das höchste Gebäude der Europäischen Union. Der Name ist eine Anspielung auf die lateinische Bezeichnung der Stadt. Für Touristen ist die „Highline“ die Hauptattraktion – eine Aussichtsplattform im 53. Stock, die einen atemberaubenden 360-Grad-Panoramablick auf die Umgebung bietet, einschließlich benachbarter markanter Wahrzeichen wie dem Kultur- und Wissenschaftspalast. 

The conclusion of our visit to Warsaw was supposed to be the highlight, but the weather threw a wrench in our plans. We were only able to secure tickets for the Varso Tower for Monday evening. Unfortunately, it had been gray and foggy since Monday, and it didn't get any better in the evening either.

Completed in 2022, the Varso Tower stands 310 meters tall, making it the tallest building in the European Union. Its name is an allusion to the city's Latin designation. For tourists, the main attraction is the "Highline"—an observation deck on the 53rd floor that offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding area, including neighboring prominent landmarks such as the Palace of Culture and Science.

Unser lieber Freund André war eine Woche vor uns dort. Er hat mir freundlicherweise dieses Foto überlassen, wie es hätte sein können bei gutem Wetter :-).

Wir haben uns dann entschieden, ins Highline Restaurant zu gehen und etwas zu trinken - und aufzuwärmen, es war nämlich wirklich nasskalt draußen.

We then decided to go to the Highline Restaurant for a drink—and to warm up, as it was really cold and wet outside.

Anschließend liefen wir noch ein wenig auf der unteren Dachterrasse herum, die ebenfalls schön dekoriert war.

Afterward, we walked around the lower roof terrace for a while, which was beautifully decorated as well.

Danach waren wir noch in der Altstadt zum Abendessen und das war es dann auch schon mit dieser Reise. 

Allerdings gab es am nächsten Tag auf der Rückfahrt endlich das polnischste Fast Food überhaupt, worauf ich mich schon die ganze Zeit gefreut hatte: den polnischen Hot Dog.

Afterward, we went to the Old Town for dinner, and that was pretty much it for the trip.

However, the next day—on the drive back—I finally got to have the most Polish fast food of all, something I had been looking forward to the entire time: the Polish hot dog.

Es waren wirklich wunderbare Tage in Warschau.

They were truly wonderful days in Warsaw.

12/2025: Warschau/ Warsaw, PL (5)

 Natürlich waren wir auch abends in Warschau unterwegs und es war wirklich schön dekoriert und beleuchtet für die Weihnachtszeit. Besonders die Königliche Route war am Freitag und am Samstag ein Hingucker, allerdings natürlich auch völlig überlaufen. Wir hatten trotzdem eine sehr schöne Zeit.

Ich hab hier jetzt einfach mal von mehreren Tagen die Nachtfotos zusammengesucht:

Of course, we also ventured out in Warsaw in the evenings, and it was truly beautifully decorated and illuminated for the Christmas season. The Royal Route, in particular, was a real sight to behold on Friday and Saturday—though, naturally, it was also completely overrun with people. We still had a wonderful time, though.

Altstadt/ Old Town

Wir haben an allen Abenden bei Zapiecek gegessen, wo traditionelle polnische Gerichte serviert werden. In Warschau gibt es 6 Restaurants (die aber eigenständig betrieben werden) und der Verkaufsschlager sind die Piroggen (gefüllte Teigtaschen). Wir waren alle 3 Male in der Altstadt bei Zapiecek, allerdings in 2 verschiedenen Lokalen. 

Interessant ist, dass draußen immer lange Schlangen waren und man wirklich draußen warten muss, bis ein Tisch leer wird, da es innen einfach keinen Platz gibt. Die beiden Restaurants waren innen wirklich urig (und eng), wir fanden es aber gemütlich.

We ate at Zapiecek every evening, where they serve traditional Polish dishes. There are six Zapiecek restaurants in Warsaw (though they are independently operated), and their bestseller is the pierogi (filled dumplings). On all three occasions, we visited Zapiecek in the Old Town—specifically, at two different locations.

What’s interesting is that there were always long lines outside, and you really do have to wait out there until a table becomes free, simply because there is no room inside. Both restaurants were truly rustic on the inside (and cramped), but we found them cozy.

Es war abends wirklich ein schönes Erlebnis, durch die Stadt zu bummeln, auch wenn es recht voll war.

It was truly a lovely experience to stroll through the city in the evening, even though it was quite crowded.
