road trip 04 - 06/2024: Monument Valley (AZ) & Gooseneck SP (UT), day 36

 Am naechsten Morgen fuhren wieder zum Monument Valley und bezahlten die Eintrittsgebuehr damit wir den Park nun bei anderem Licht noch einmal sehen konnten, und es es hat sich wirklich gelohnt.

The next morning, we drove back to Monument Valley and paid the entrance fee so we could see the park again in a different light, and it was really worth it.

Morgens sind die drei beruehmten Felsen allerdings noch im Schatten ...

In the morning the three famous rocks are still in the shade...

waehrend andere, wie zB die "Drei Schwestern" nun wunderbar angeleuchtet sind.

while others, such as the "Three Sisters" are now wonderfully lit.

Er war etwas speziell. Das Foto entstand am John Ford Point und Mutti war in der Entfernung mit der grossen Kamera fuer solch tolles Foto (das Pferd kostet $10 fuer ein paar Minuten fuer so eine Fotosession und es steht ansonten die ganze Zeit in der prallen Sonne :-( ). - Man stellt hiermit eine Szene aus einem Western mit John Wayne nach.

He was something special. The photo was taken at John Ford Point and Mom was in the distance with the big camera to take such a great photo (the horse costs $10 for a few minutes for such a photo session and otherwise it is in the blazing sun the whole time :-( ). - This recreates a scene from a western with John Wayne.

Wir verliessen das Monument gegen Mittag und der naechste Halt war der ebenso beruehmte "Forrest Gump Point". Tom Hanks machte diesen Ort 1994 durch den Film "Forrest Gump" beruehmt, als er hier seinen epischen Lauf beendete.

We left the monument around midday and the next stop was the equally famous “Forrest Gump Point”. Tom Hanks made this place famous in the 1994 film “Forrest Gump” when he ended his epic run here.

"Mexican Hat" (Mexikanischer Hut)

Ziel war der "Gooseneck State Park" in Utah (uebersetzt "Gaensehals"), wo man sieht wie sich der San Juan River mit vielen Schleifen hier durch das Gestein windet.

The destination was the “Gooseneck State Park” in Utah (translated as “gooseneck”), where you can see how the San Juan River meanders through the rock with many loops.

Anschliessend ging es wieder zurueck und wir besuchten das Monument Valley noch einmal am spaeten Nachmittag da das Ticket noch gueltig war. Diesmal gabs kaum Fotos und ich bewunderte voll und ganz die Formationen.

Afterward, we returned to Monument Valley in the late afternoon because the ticket was still valid. This time there were hardly any photos and I completely admired the formations.

Dieser Aussichtspunkt heisst "John Wayne Punkt", da er von hier angeblich gern hinuntergeschaut hat.

This viewpoint is called "John Wayne Point" because he apparently liked to look down from here.

Und dann fuhren wir zurueck zu unserem Camper fuer den Sonnenuntergang.

And then we returned to our camper for the sunset.
